Adrien Roche began his career in his native France working with Pulitzer Prize-winner Raymond Depardon, a towering figure in the worlds of documentary and photojournalism. He worked as assistant producer on the fiction feature, UN HOMME SANS L’OCCIDENT (UNTOUCHED BY THE WEST) and the documentary features, 10 TH DISTRICT COURT and PROFILS PAYSANS, LE QUOTIDIEN; these films were selected for the 2003 Venice Film Festival, the 2004 Cannes Film Festival, and the 2005 Berlinale, respectively.

As a trained historian and professional documentary producer, Adrien has collaborated with European and Indian directors on over 40 films over the past two decades. His expertise has led him to cultivate a vast reservoir of knowledge concerning the history, society, politics, and cinematic panorama of the Indian sub-continent. His filmography covers an impressive array of subjects, from exploring the matrilinear society in North-east India to delving into the intriguing connections between people and rocks. Adrien's passion for filmmaking extends beyond production to research, camera, sound and teaching. His main areas of interest now lead him to explore prehistoric rock art and the connected histories of the Indian Ocean.
